Pimp: "m0NESY is ready to contest for being the best player in the world going into 2023"

Analyst Jacob "Pimp" Winneche considers G2's AWPer Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov to be one of the contenders for the title of the best player in 2023. He tweeted that the 17-year-old Russian is already able to compete with the leaders of the professional scene in Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, who were named the best in the business for the past few consecutive years.

Pimp also shortlisted Cloud9's Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov. His weak point versus m0NESY is the largely achieved potential, while the young opponent only recently debuted in the tier-1 scene.

I don’t think it’s unfair to suggest that m0NESY is ready to contest for being the best player in the world going into 2023. Imagine it being a 3 man race between ZywOo, s1mple and young m0NESY. Almost like when we had Ronaldo, Messi, and Neymar all fired up.

sh1ro would be next on that list! sh1ro is way closer to a “finished” product than m0NESY is. We know sh1ro is world class, but I also feel we have a great idea as to where his potential lays. He can still develop, and he is already world class. Where as m0NESY? God knows.

Winneche shared his opinion following G2's victory in a match against Outsiders, which m0NESY finished with an impressive 1.94 rating. Having beaten the reigning Major champions, the European squad advanced to the quarterfinals of BLAST Premier World Final 2022.
