"I've never faced such pressure." Aleksib names reasons for his failure in G2
NIP's in-game leader Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen recalled the time spent in G2 and explained the reasons for his failure in the European squad in an interview with Ilta-Sanomat. According to the player, he was very much affected by the pressure from critics, which he called the strongest in his career.
I learned a lot as a player, but I also realized what I didn't want to be. Playing for G2, I wasn't completely in my comfort zone. I gave too much freedom that was hard to take back. Of course, I blame myself for some things, but there's nothing to be done now. I'd never faced such strong pressure from critics. It affected the situation too much.
Aleksib added that after moving to NIP, he again felt a homely atmosphere, which he likes much more than the one that was in G2.
Virolainen led the G2 roster in the first half of this year. The team's best result throughout this period was a second-place finish at IEM Katowice 2022. G2 changed their IGL during the summer break in the pro scene, when Dane Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen replaced the Finnish captain.
