"I wasn't sleeping and it was just hell". device opens up about reasons for going inactive

Announced as the new Astralis' AWPer, Nicolai "device" Reedtz spoke out for the first time in an interview with the Danish television channel TV2 about the health problems that saw him spend the last ten months inactive. According to the player, he experienced anxiety and depression amid stress.

device clarified that he began experiencing health problems at the end of last year while playing for NIP.

I had quite a long sick leave and a hard time with stress at the end of my period in NIP last december. I have been focusing on getting to know myself and have had quite a few stress problems in general in my career. The fact is that stress can lead to both anxiety and depression, and I had some issues with anxiety at one point. I wasn't really sleeping and it was just hell. For me, it was really about understanding that. It's just taken some time to feel how things affect your own body. You owe it to yourself to focus on yourself in this business. It's a lie to think that it can't happen again. But I have a handle on how to deal with various symptoms and I'm not worried about it at all.

device went inactive after eight months of being with NIP, during which the team's best achievement was the victory at the European RMR tournament Flashpoint 3.

Reedtz’s first official matches after a long break will take place at Elisa Masters Espoo 2022, which Astralis will attend. The big LAN event will be held in Finland from November 16 to 20.
