FURIA decide on coach for IEM Rio Major 2022

Co-owner of FURIA André Akkari will take over as the team's coach at IEM Rio Major 2022. The information was confirmed by the team's management in a comment to Dust2.com.br.

FURIA had to look for a replacement for the nearest Major due to Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira being caught using the spectator mode bug and therefore banned from all Valve-sponsored events. Until the end of 2023, he will not be able to attend Majors, as well as qualifying cycles for them.

Previously, Nogueira was replaced by his assistant Marcos "tacitus" Castilho, but at the Major in Rio, the coaching staff considered Akkari's candidacy more useful. The club's co-owner, being a successful professional poker player, will be able to help the squad cope with psychological pressure.

Earlier, Akkari took to Twitter to say that FURIA hired lawyers hoping they would be able to remove the ban from the head coach to participate in IEM Rio Major 2022, but their efforts were in vain.

The upcoming Major will take place from October 31 to November 13 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Fighting for a total prize pool of $1.25 million will be 24 strongest teams in the world.
