Aunkere announces Benched Heroes disbandment

The Benched Heroes roster has ceased to exist, Eugene "Aunkere" Karyat, a member of the European squad, has announced via his Telegram channel.

Aunkere reported that the players are no longer training together. The Russian, however, admitted that in the future the squad might team up again to participate in qualifiers for various tournaments.

The disbandment of Benched Heroes comes a few days after the forced withdrawal from the European RMR event. The team was not able to travel to Malta in full force due to Aunkere and Buğra "Calyx" Arkın not having visas, as a result of which it was replaced by Illuminar, who filled the vacated spot in the team list.

The Benched Heroes roster was formed in August for taking part in the qualifying tournament for IEM Rio Major 2022 and secured their ticket through the last of four qualifiers to the RMR. According to Aunkere, shortly after the successful run at the qualifier, two unnamed organizations expressed interest in the lineup, but eventually the parties failed to agree on the terms of cooperation.
