IEM Rio Major 2022's prize pool increased to $1.25M

Tournament operator ESL has announced on social media that the prize pool of the nearest Major has been increased by $250,000. Due to the monetary reward being reallocated from the regional qualifiers to IEM Rio Major 2022, the prize money of the latter will amount to $1.25 million.

The change means that all the participants of the Major will now receive a portion of the prize pool. At previous Majors, only 16 teams were eligible for the prizing, while the eight outsiders had to be left with nothing.

5-8. $45,000
9-16. $20,000
17-24. $10,000

Earlier, it was announced that the prize pool of the first Major of 2023, which will be held from May 8 to 21 in Paris under the auspices of BLAST, was increased as well. The 24 teams will also battle out $1.25 million.

IEM Rio Major 2022 will take place from October 31 to November 8 in Rio de Janeiro. The first two stages will be hosted by a specially equipped conference center, after which the eight best teams will fight for the title on the stage of the Jeunesse Arena.
