Rumors: Evil Geniuses to sign former CPH Flames coach and intend to return maLeK

Evil Geniuses are close to signing former Copenhagen Flames coach Daniel "vorborg" Vorborg, BLIX.gg reports. According to the source, the organization is also in talks to bring back Damien "maLeK" Marcel, who worked for the club in the first half of 2022.

vorborg is expected to take over as the head coach of the Evil Geniuses main team. The role of maLeK in case of his return to the organization remains unknown.

In 2016, Voorborg became a founding member of Copenhagen Flames and worked in a management position until early 2022 when he started combining it with coaching duties. He left the club in May of this year after the Danes sold Nico "nicoodoz" Tamjidi and Fredrik "roeJ" Jørgensen to fnatic and put the rest of the players on the transfer list.

maLeK, who is best known for working with the G2 roster, became the coach of Evil Geniuses at the beginning of 2022, however, the team was not able to achieve any significant results under his guidance. The Frenchman parted ways with EG in May, after which it was revealed that he had a conflict with the former in-game leader of the team Jake "Stewie2K" Yip.

The rumors of vorborg and maLeK joining Evil Geniuses came amid previously reported information about a massive ongoing rebuilding in the North American organization. The main of the club's three rosters has already seen Stewie2K and, as expected, William "RUSH" Wierzba departing, with the vacated places set to be taken by Kévin "misutaaa" Rabier from Vitality and Sanzhar "neaLaN" Ishkakov from K23.
