SEMPHIS returns to professional scene as coach

Former Canadian player Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen has returned to the professional CS:GO scene after a nine-month break to become a coach of Gaimin Gladiators, the North American club announced on Twitter.

SEMPHIS is best known for the early years of CS:GO, when he made a significant contribution to the success of North American teams. In particular, together with Complexity, he entered the top-4 of the first Major in the history of the game (DreamHack Winter 2013). Subsequently, he was an in-game leader of such high-level teams as Cloud9 and TSM.

Friesen's last professional team was Envy, which he left in 2018. Since then, he has played for little-known squads in various North American leagues and retired in July last year due to vision problems.

The new lineup of SEMPHIS features inexperienced at the tier-1 level players from North America. Gaimin Gladiators are currently taking part in the regional part of ESL Challenger League Season 40, where they are fighting for a spot in EPL Conference Season 16.
