B1ad3: "The merger of the CIS and Europe for RMR tournaments is beneficial for NAVI"
Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy, a coach of NAVI, in a video on the club's YouTube channel commented on the previously announced merger of Europe and the CIS into one region during the Major qualifying-cycle. The specialist believes that such a decision by Valve will benefit his team.
I think that merging Europe and the CIS is a good thing. I missed it. When we play with teams from the CIS, it somehow affects us differently. Stereotype or bias, but somehow it happens... When you play against the CIS teams, you do not feel like it is a tournament of the highest priority. What is so special about beating everyone in your region? That is how the ecosystem works. From the get-go, the leagues in our region have not been successful for us. The focus is on Europe. The merger of the CIS and Europe for RMR tournaments is beneficial for NAVI.
Earlier, we were used to the system, where the top 8 of the previous Major received direct invites. Now there is an additional tournament in the schedule that needs to be taken into account.
In addition to Europe and the CIS, Valve also merged North America with South America and Asia with Oceania. It is expected that RMR tournaments for the upcoming PGL Major Antwerp 2022 in all three regions formed will be held in a LAN format.
