s1mple and NAVI named the best player and team of the year by The Game Awards 2021
AWPer Alexandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and his team NAVI have become the winners of The Game Awards 2021. The Ukrainian esports athlete was named the best player of the year, while the CIS roster became the best team of the year.
This year NAVI, with s1mple as a most valuable player, won many big championships, including PGL Major Stockholm 2021. The team also secured the prestigious Intel Grand Slam Season 3 award.
At The Game Awards 2021, the professional CS:GO scene was nominated in the following categories: "Best Esports Game", "Best Esports Coach" (Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy) and "Best Esports Event" (PGL Major Stockholm 2021). However, in each of the categories the game lost to League of Legends.
The Game Awards is an annual award that marks the achievements in the computer games industry. The winners are determined by a mixed voting jury (90%) and a public fan poll (10%).
