VOYVODA acquired by Fiend
eSports organization Fiend, which is based in the U.S., announced the signing of a lineup of Bulgarian who have previously peformed under the VOYVODA tag. The team had won the qualifier for DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 two weeks earlier.
Team Fiend CEO, Aleksandr "fataL" Kharnikov - "I've been passionate and involved in the Counter-strike scene for 20 years, both as a semi-professional player and as a fan. I've been wanting to enter the scene to have a team of my own and feel like the time is right with this roster, with Team Fiend. I've followed them for many years, from their early days to GPlay up until MBAPPEEK. All five players have the right mentality to rise to new heights, which is the drive to work hard and the will to never give up."
Kamen "bubble" Kostadinov, Viktor "v1c7oR" Dyankov and Hristiyan "REDSTAR" Pironkov have been playing together since October 2020, when they formed the MBAPPEEK mix to qualify for tournaments. Two other Fiend players Simeon "dream3r" Ganev and Martin "mar" Kuyumdiev joined the distinguished trio in December. The roster is currently ranked 53rd in the world rankings.
In a recent interview with HLTV.org, v1c7oR expressed confidence that his new team could be the best version of Windigo from early 2019, in which he and bubble became the 2018 World Electronic Sports Games champion and a number of less prestigious tournaments.
"Having an organization is pretty great as it gives us more tools to succeed," Viktor "v1c7oR" Dyankov stated. "Signing with this organization provides us with motivation to keep getting better and to prove that this project will work. It also feels good to have an organization that I can call home! Although we're still a new roster, I'm confident that we can achieve even greater things in 2021."
As of this news, Fiend has no official matches scheduled other than participating in DreamHack Masters Spring 2021. The upcoming championship will take place between April 29 and May 9.
