MIBR to punish Russian kl1m for racist remarks on FACEIT
Brazilian esports organization MIBR has released an official statement regarding the incident involving its Counter-Strike 2 team member Klimentii "kl1m" Krivosheev. The 19-year-old Russian esports athlete called his teammate a monkey during a game on the South American matchmaking platform FACEIT, which led to him being accused of racism.
MIBR noted that they condemn any form of bias towards people, be it racism or xenophobia, and called kl1m's words unacceptable and inconsistent with the club's values. Thus, disciplinary sanctions will be applied to Krivosheev and he will be forced to take a course on racial and cultural education.
Klimentii himself responded to this situation as follows:
While in my culture this word is often used as a generic insult, like "burro," I understand that its impact here is completely unacceptable. There was no racist intent on my part, and I apologize to anyone I offended...
I recognize that intention does not erase the effect of the words, and I understand the gravity of what was said. In addition to the measures my organization is taking, I am personally committed to educating myself about Brazilian culture and history.
Note that kl1m joined MIBR on August 26 – the organization signed him on a loan deal from the youth roster of G2. In addition, a few days ago, Aleksei "Qikert" Golubev also joined the squad. At the moment, the roster is in the top 35 of Valve's world ranking.
MIBR are now:
Raphael "exit" Lacerda
Felipe "insani" Yuji
Breno "brnz4n" Poletto
Klimentii "kl1m" Krivosheev
Aleksei "Qikert" Golubev
Jhonatan "jnt" Silva (coach)
