Monte withdraws from YaLLa Compass Winter

Ukrainian esports club Monte refused to participate in YaLLa Compass Winter Contenders due to the tournament losing its ranked status by the decision of the Counter-Strike 2 developers. The organization officially announced this via its X social media account.

We have decided to withdraw from Yalla Compass 2025 Winter Contenders due to its status change from ranked to unranked. Additionally, Yalla has updated their qualification rules, making it no longer possible to qualify for the closed qualifier through the Yalla Winter tournament.

As the schedule on the Tier 2 scene is busy, our new roster wants to keep the focus on ranked tournaments to gain valuable VRS points, as well as on intensive training to meet the goals set for the team and the performance level expected of us.

We believe that the current competitive system should be more transparent and accessible. There is a lack of clarity surrounding Tier 2 tournaments such as SkyEsports Souvenir, Frost and Fire, CCT 16 and Yalla Compass. We hope for improvements in this regard to ensure a fair and structured competitive environment for all teams.

Earlier, the YaLLa Compass organizers updated the rules for holding their events planned for 2025 and 2026 – now they comply with the Valve's official requirements, which came into force at the beginning of 2025. At the same time, YaLLa Compass Winter Contenders will continue as an unranked competition.
