f0rest retires from competing

Famous Swedish esports athlete Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg will no longer compete on the Counter-Strike pro scene. HLTV.org reported this, citing the player's statement.

The 36-year-old Lindberg will continue his career in esports as a brand ambassador and content creator for NIP. f0rest himself commented on his decision as follows.

When I first thought about it, I felt sad," he told HLTV. "But looking back, I'm very, very proud. I'm super happy with the journey I've done with my teammates and all the trophies we've done, all the travels I've done. It also feels like it's good to put a closure on that, to put a bit of ease on my mind.

Going around thinking that you might play is not always the best for your mental health, I feel. Like, always hoping, hoping, hoping. I feel like now that I have closed this chapter, now I move forward.

The moment I started to realize, 'Yeah, this is happening,' there was a little bit of sadness. But hey, I have been playing for, like, 17 or 18 years. I think I have done my fair share of playing.

Note that the Swede's last team was Dignitas - he represented it from 2020 to 2022. Before that, f0rest spent about eight years with NIP, while before that he represented SK and fnatic.

During his entire career as a Counter-Strike pro player, which kicked off back in 2003, Patrik won 23 trophies at LAN tournaments, including one Major, secured the MVP title eight times and entered the top 20 best players of the year four times. In total, Lindberg earned $739,000 in prize money in the discipline.
