HLTV updates CS2 rating formula
HLTV.org has updated its own rating system, making some changes to the formula for calculating player stats. In the new version of the rating (2.1), the average values have been adjusted using data from the first year of Counter-Strike 2. Other changes include:
— Averages adjusted using 1 year of Counter-Strike 2 data
— Average rating returned to 1.00 over an event
— All five sub-ratings now have equal weight, after survival, impact, and KAST became too important in CS2 for rating 2.0
— Survivals in lost rounds (saving) gives a lower reward
— Assisted kills give more reward than in 2.0, because of 25 damage assists rather than 40
As stated in the official announcement from HLTV, the aforementioned changes were made to bring the rating system in line with MR12 and 25-damage assist threshold (instead of CS:GO's 40).
HLTV also provided several examples of how this update affected the stats of professional players, including some representatives of Virtus.pro. For example, Dzhami "Jame" Ali's rating dropped from 1.22 to 1.11.
