ESL may expand regional coverage of ESL Challenger League Series

Tournament operator ESL intends to expand the coverage of ESL Challenger League tournaments. Shaun Clark, ESL SR Game Ecosystems at CS:GO, announced this in a commentary to HLTV.org.

It was reported that ESL Challenger League events are planned to be organized not only in Europe, North America and Asia, but also in Australia and South America. However, ESL has not yet made a final decision on expanding the series.

Commenting on the latest news, Clark also mentioned that ESL is in the process of developing an affiliate program that would allow other organizers to provide similar opportunities as the national championships had and tie into the ESL Pro Tour just the same.

Yesterday, September 15, ESL announced the closure of the ESL National Championship program, which hosted national championships in various countries. This decision was made because the concept has lost its relevance in the current realities of the pro scene development.
