lurppis questions objectivity of HLTV.org and ESL rankings

ENCE and MIBR co-owner Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen questioned via his Twitter account the objectivity of the current roster ranking systems from HLTV.org and ESL. As a first example, the Finn analyzed GamerLegion's position, which is currently No. 7 in HLTV.org ranking.

HLTV.org has GamerLegion as the 7th best team in the world, despite only fielding 3 players and having attended one (1) tier-one offline tournament in the team's history.

Kovanen then advised the tournament operator ESL to completely abandon their team ranking system. Instead, he offered to set the seedings for the tournaments after agreeing with the partner clubs.

ESL really should get rid of their trash rankings and instead poll their partner teams once a month for seeding purposes (i.e., IEM Katowice 2019 format). Those rankings would not only be more interesting for fans, but also likely have more predictive power.

Earlier, lurppis on the Know-it-Alls of CS podcast said that ESL and BLAST partner clubs receive at least $750,000 a year.
