Americas lose one spot at the next Major after poor IEM Rio Major 2022 results
The number of BLAST Paris Major 2023 participants from the Americas has decreased from six to five teams due to the unsuccessful performance of this region's representatives at IEM Rio Major 2022, where only FURIA and Liquid made it to the top 16.
According to the current tournament rules released by Valve, the Major spots are allocated depending on each region's success at the previous Major. Thus, one spot at the Major in Paris, which previously belonged to the Americas, will go to Europe.
Despite having five spots at BLAST Paris Major 2023, Americas may lose invites to the Legends Stage. Depending on whether Liquid and FURIA make the playoffs at the ongoing Major, Americas could have two, one, or no tickets to the Legends Stage at Valve's next tournament.
The allocation of spots between regions at BLAST Paris Major 2023 is as follows: Europe – 17 spots, America – 5 spots and Asia – 2 spots.
