President of France comments on the Major in Paris

French President Emmanuel Macron took to Twitter to comment on the CS:GO Major in Paris, which will be organized by the tournament operator BLAST in May 2023. Among other things, the head of the country stated that the Valve-sponsored event will be hosted by the 20,000-seater Accor Arena.

From next year, in May, in less than 10 months, our country will host an event that will celebrate its 10th anniversary: ​​the BLAST Paris Major 2023, the very first Major Counter-Strike organized in France! <...> I want to give you news that France will host two exceptional esports events in 2023 and 2024. In May 2023, the BLAST Major for CS:GO will take place in Paris. The first ever CS:GO Major to take place in France will be held in the Accor Arena. In addition In 2024, we will host the first-ever TRACKMania Games. We will be mobilizing everyone so that around the Olympics Games, esports will play an integral part. For the TRACKMania Games we will also have champions coming from across the world to compete in Paris.

In June of this year, Macron already spoke about the development of esports in France. Then he expressed a desire to host several big events in various disciplines in his country, including a Major in CS:GO, a Worlds in League of Legends and The International in Dota 2.

The Major in France will take place from May 8 to 21, 2023 and will be the first one that BLAST organizes together with Valve.
