Locations for upcoming RMR events announced

Tournament operator ESL has announced on its official website the locations for the RMR events for IEM Rio Major 2022. The qualifiers for all three regions will take place from October 4 to 9.

Malta will host the European RMR tournament, the American part will be played in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, while teams from the Asian region will gather in Melbourne, Australia. The events for Europe and America will be held in a studio format, while the Asian competition will take place in front of a live audience.

ESL's press release notes that Sweden has been chosen as the host country for the Americas RMR primarily because of the simplified visa policy. The organizers thus intend to avoid problems with obtaining documents that could arise if the tournament was to be played out in the United States.

The Europe RMR will be divided into two parts, each with eight tickets to the Major up for grabs. North American and South American teams will fight for six spots, while Asia will be represented by one participant.

The open qualifiers for the RMR events are currently ongoing in three regions. The final list of teams that will take part in the last qualifying stage for IEM Rio 2022 will be known on September 5.

The upcoming Major is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 13 in Rio de Janeiro at the 18,000-seater Jeunesse Arena. The prize pool of the tournament is $1 million.
