Report: Flashpoint league cease to exist

The Flashpoint franchise league has ceased to exist, as announced by the authoritative North American journalist Jacob Wolf in a report on his official website.

The source clarified that from a legal point of view, the league still functions, however, the massive withdrawal of partner teams from the professional CS:GO scene, divisions within the league, lack of sponsors, and a number of other problems made the further existence of the project impossible. It was noted that most of the employees, including top managers like commissioner Christopher "MonteCristo" Mykles, were laid off back in January of this year.

Flashpoint was launched in early 2020. In order to become a league partner, organizations needed to buy a $2 million slot, which eight clubs eventually did: c0ntact, Envy, FunPlus Phoenix, Gen.G, MAD Lions, Dignitas, MIBR and Cloud9, while only the last two currently have an active CS:GO roster.

Flashpoint held a total of three events. The first two seasons with a prize pool of $1 million each were organized in 2020 and ended with the victories of MAD Lions and Virtus.pro, respectively. The third event took place in the spring of 2021 and acted as a European RMR tournament.

At the time of publication of the material, Flashpoint representatives have yet to confirm the information about the closure of the league. The official website of the company does not work, while its social media have not been updated since July last year.
