B1ad3: "When you're a top-1 team, it doesn't matter who you play against"

NAVI's coach Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy believes that currently his team, being the leader of the professional CS:GO scene, does not care which opponent to play against, he shared in an interview to the club's YouTube channel.

I don't like picking an opponent that I would like to face more than anyone else. When you talk to the players, you don't see that someone is necessarily fired up to take on a certain team. Usually, their answer is: "Well, probably it would be more fun to play against these". In fact, each team always focuses on itself. If you are an outsider, then this is relevant and you can choose someone stronger or weaker. When you are a top-1 team, it doesn’t matter who you play against. Of course, it’s always easier to play with an easy opponent, but when you win a lot, you want to fight and a stronger opponent.

The specialist's commentary was recorded before his team got an opponent in the upper bracket final of Group B at IEM Katowice 2022. Gorodenskiy assessed the current form of FaZe and fnatic, who faced off for making it to the decisive game of the upper bracket.

It's important for us to reach the semifinals. FaZe can be quite a surprise. They just acquired ropz. I wonder how the team will perform with him at the LAN event. fnatic started off shaky, even with quarrels, as I heard, but they overcame their problems. This is an important factor.

FaZe took over fnatic and today, February 20, at 21:30 MSK, will face NAVI in the upper bracket final of Group B. The winner of the match will start the IEM Katowice 2022 playoffs from the semifinals, while the losing team will play in the quarterfinals.
