FunPlus Phoenix leave CS:GO

FunPlus Phoenix have announced their departure from the professional CS:GO scene on Twitter. The Chinese club noted that the reason for this decision was the inability to work with the team remotely.

FPX first attempted to sign a CS:GO team in early 2020, but then the deal to buy the Heroic roster fell through due to the transfer of Patrick "es3tag" Hansen to Astralis. A year later, the organization bought out the roster from GODSENT, who they have been with for the past eleven months.

The team failed to win a single big tournament this year. FunPlus Phoenix also could not get pass PGL Major Stockholm 2021 qualifiers, where they finished 13th in the European RMR rating, which did not allow them to compete in the first Major in two years.

FPX's press release says that all players were given the opportunity to explore options for continuing their careers in other teams. At the same time, it is not clear whether the club gave the esports athletes the status of free agents or intends to sell them.

FunPlus Phoenix was:

Jesse "zehN" Linjala
Martin "STYKO" Styk
Pavle "Maden" Boskovic
Asger "Farlig" Jensen
Luka "emi" Vukovic
