ECS Will No Longer Operate; FACEIT to Produce B Site League

The FACEIT-owned Esports Championship Series will cease operations, according to multiple sources close to the organization. The online-based league ran for eight seasons and will end as a result of a partnership between FACEIT and the upcoming “B Site” Counter-Strike: Global Offensive league set to begin in March.

According to multiple sources, FACEIT will run production for the B Site league as a result of an agreement between the two companies, which will bring an end to its other endeavor, ECS. The permanent name of the league has not yet been revealed, but details of the circuit have been reported by DBLTAP in recent weeks. The list of organizations committed to B Site includes Cloud9, MIBR, Gen.G, Dignitas and MAD Lions, according to multiple sources, and it will eventually include 12 teams. The nature of the professional CS:GO calendar means the league will overlap with future ESL Pro League seasons, which will prevent teams from participating in both.

B Site will have a one month regular season (on LAN) followed by a LAN final that will alternate between Europe and North America each season. The the top eight teams qualify for the finals. It will cost teams $2 million to enter the league, in which they will receive part ownership. The league will also offer direct revenue sharing with players at a value of $1.04 million with an opportunity to increase over time.
