Mousesports Claims ESL One New York in Upset Over Team Liquid

Mousesports triumphed Sunday when it won a back-and-forth series over Team Liquid in the grand finals of ESL One New York.

After an early win on Cache, the German team lost both Nuke and Inferno to go down 1-2 against the North Americans. With some stellar Counter-Strike: Global Offensive play, however, mousesports clutched out an overtime scuffle on Dust2 to tie the series before riding that momentum to a win on Mirage.

The win signifies mousesports' best performance since its second place finish at ESL One Belo Horizonte in June, and its first big win since V4 Future Sports Festival in March. The team will take home $125,000 for its trouble, along with the satisfaction of having silenced the rabid North American fans that packed the Barclays Center Sunday afternoon.

Mousesports will next compete at Star Series & i-League Season 6, beginning Oct. 7 and continuing through Oct. 14.
