MaLeK Joins G2 as Coach for ESL One New York

Damien "maLeK" Marcel joined G2 Esports Monday as the organization's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive coach for the duration of its appearance at ESL One New York.

In an announcement, G2 explained maLeK would specifically aim to help the CS:GO team learn to adapt more quickly and effectively during competition. His tenure at G2 will begin as temporary while the team explores more longterm commitments. He joins current manager Jérôme "NiaK" Sudries as the team's main line of support.

MaLeK's most recent experience came as coach for Team EnVyUs' CS:GO team. He performed in that role from February 2017 until his release in May 2018, just a month before the organization released its entire CS:GO roster.

In a statement accompanying G2's announcement, NiaK expressed enthusiasm about maLeK joining the team.

"Damien is one of the pioneers of the French Counter-Strike scene," he wrote. "His human qualities and his expertise of CS, combined with his long relationship with most of our players, make him the ideal candidate to bring a new dynamic after a tough Major where our adaptability was heavily challenged."

MaLeK will have his coaching skills tested Wednesday, when ESL One New York is scheduled to begin.
