Two Brazilian clubs drop CS2 rosters due to new betting legislation

Brazilian esports organization LOUD has disbanded its Counter-Strike 2 roster before even officially announcing it. This decision followed the Brazilian president's signing of a decree banning sports betting in the country.

The LP squad was set to compete under the LOUD tag. Team IGL Leonardo "zmb" Toledo and head coach Pablo "disturbed" Fernandes announced that they are no longer under contract with the organization. They added that the roster intends to stay together but remains open to individual offers.

LOUD had finalized the signing of the LP roster back in May. The organization had paid registration fees for several tournaments and funded a bootcamp in Portugal. Recently, the LP squad finished 5th-8th at three consecutive LAN tournaments in Portugal: Roman Imperium Cup VIII, HyperX Retake Season 12, and LeonBet Masters Season 1.

Notably, another Brazilian club, namely Keyd Stars, has also decided to cease operations of its Counter-Strike 2 division, citing "recent changes in the competitive landscape, as well as the country's business and regulatory environment".
