IEM Cologne 2027 announced

Tournament organizer ESL has announced new details regarding IEM Cologne 2027, scheduled to take place from August 4 to August 15 of next year.

The tournament will culminate in an eight-team playoff stage held over four days at the LANXESS Arena. For the first time in the history of the IEM Cologne series, a 360-degree stage setup will be installed in the arena.

In the first stage of IEM Cologne 2027, 16 squads will compete in a Double Elimination format for eight berths in the second stage. There, they will be joined by the eight highest-ranked teams, forming two groups of eight. The second stage will also follow a Double Elimination format, with the top four rosters from each group advancing to the playoffs.

All matches will be held in a best-of-three (BO3) format, with the exception of the final, which will be a best-of-five (BO5) series. The match for the third place will also play out prior to the final. The first wave of tickets for the tournament goes on sale on October 15.
