Esports World Cup 2027 & 2028 dates announced

Organizers of the international esports festival, the Esports World Cup, have announced details regarding the upcoming Counter-Strike 2 event scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia in 2027 and 2028.

The 2027 tournament, scheduled for July 20 to August 1, will retain this year's expanded format: the main stage of the competition will feature 32 teams and offer a prize pool of $2 million.

Organizers will also maintain the open qualifier – taking place from July 16 to 18 at Esports Boulevard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – where participants will compete for four spots at the tournament's main stage.

The slot allocation for the Esports World Cup 2027 looks as follows:

  • 20 Global VRS invites
  • Two North American VRS invites
  • Two South American VRS invites
  • Two Asian VRS invites
  • Two Wildcard invites
  • Four teams from the Riyadh Open Qualifier

Details regarding the 2028 competition will be revealed later on. Organizers have tentatively scheduled the event for July 14-30.

The Esports World Cup 2026 took place from August 12th to 23rd, 2026, in Paris, France. The total prize pool of the competition amounted to $2 million, shared among 32 rosters. In the final, Team Spirit defeated FUT with a scoreline of 3-1. Danil "donk" Kryshkovets was chosen the tournament's most valuable player.
