Liquid and 3DMAX lose their openers at IEM Rio 2026

Opening matches of Group A at IEM Rio 2026 in Brazil have concluded, bringing four teams one step closer to advancing to the final stage of the event.

In the first round of the group, Vitality defeated RED Canids, G2 bested Gentle Mates, Team Spirit prevailed over Liquid, while Falcons got the better of 3DMAX.

The losing teams dropped to the lower bracket, while the winners advanced to the winners' round, where they will compete for spots in the competition playoffs tomorrow. Group B openers will then follow as scheduled.

IEM Rio 2026 is taking place from April 13th to 19th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with 16 squads participating. The event's prize pool is $300,000. Detailed information about the tournament can be found in our article.
