ESIC temporarily bans Northern Lights players
Esports Ethics Commission (ESIC) announced the temporary suspension of players from the Swedish team Northern Lights. According to the official statement, this decision was made based on information received and the results of a preliminary investigation, which revealed instances of malicious violations of ESIC's Code of Conduct.
Effective immediately, Northern Lights and its Participants are provisionally suspended from participating in any ESIC Member Event, including qualifiers and online stages, pending the outcome of ESIC’s investigation and any ensuing disciplinary process. Any period served under interim suspension will be credited against any final sanction that may be imposed.
The following Swedish esports athletes have been suspended: Axel "axelen" Enholm, Anton "Meinz" Evander, Oscar "Avoy" Dahlkvist, Frank "fraaank" Issal, and Alexander "frigolito" Andersson.
The same five players were previously suspended from the Swedish Elitserien league for participating in match-fixing and cheating.
Less than two weeks ago, ESIC also announced that "current rostered players, coaches, and team staff" had been given temporary suspensions from competition, which would remain in place pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
