Lynn Vision temporarily banned by ESL
Tournament operator ESL has completed its investigation into the sudden withdrawal of Lynn Vision and Virtus.pro from ESL Pro League Season 22 due to issues with travelling to Sweden. The investigation concluded that the Chinese team could have avoided their problems, while the Russian squad was denied to get into the country through no fault of their players.
ESL claimed in a statement regarding Lynn Vision's situation:
On the day of the travel to the event, Lynn Vision informed us that several of their players were unable to check-in for their flight, as their visas had expired. This news came as a surprise, given that the team had repeatedly confirmed throughout the invitation and booking process that all necessary visas were in place.
If unintentional, this oversight remains entirely unacceptable and does not fall under any of our exceptional circumstances (either medical emergency or visa complications).
Notably, Lynn Vision has been banned from participating in the upcoming ESL tier 1 tournament, which they would have qualified for through the VRS ranking. The next such competition will be IEM Krakow.
On the other hand, Virtus.pro will not be penalized, as their issues are considered an exceptional circumstance. However, both teams are still required to reimburse the costs associated with finding replacements, which is in line with ESL's standard practice in such situations.
