Skyesports cancels its tier 1 CS2 tournaments
Tournament operator Skyesports has announced the cancellation of Skyesports Masters 2025, as well as the tier 1 Counter-Strike 2 events scheduled for 2026. According to an official statement published on Skyesports's X social media accounts, the company will focus on developing the tier 2 CS2 scene.
After careful consideration, we have made the decision to cancel the Skyesports Masters 2025 and our planned Tier 1 Counter-Strike 2 events for 2026.
Going forward, our focus will shift towards strengthening the Tier 2 and grassroots ecosystem, creating more accessible opportunities for emerging teams and establishing a more sustainable pathway to the Tier 1 ecosystem.
As part of this renewed direction, we will invest in Tier 2 Counter-Strike 2 tournaments, beginning with the Chennai Esports Global Championship (CEGC), supported by the Government of Tamil Nadu, which marks the first step toward this long-term vision.
We remain deeply committed to the growth of Counter-Strike 2 and will continue building a sustainable Tier 2 ecosystem that addresses a crucial gap — empowering teams with tournaments offering them a chance to climb the rankings.
Notably, Skyesports Masters 2024 was held from July 23rd to 28th, 2024, in Mumbai, India, at the Taj Lands End arena. The competition's prize pool amounted to $300,000. 3DMAX defeated The MongolZ in a tiebreaker in the final.
