Ganginho receives multi-year ban from ESIC
23-year-old Ukrainian esports athlete Ilya "Ganginho" Chernychenko received a three-year ban from the Counter-Strike 2 pro scene following an investigation by the Esports Ethics Commission (ESIC). The reason is numerous bets (including on his own team's matches).
The official statement from ESIC claims:
Reports indicate a total of 390 Counter-Strike bets placed via accounts tied directly to Mr. Chernychenko, including significant bets on matches involving his team. This conduct resulted in winnings totalling approximately $20,000.
Investigation in partnership with ESIC’s Anti-Corruption Supporters confirms betting activity was conducted through accounts linked to Mr. Chernychenko via shared IP addresses, device identifiers, and other unique digital markers.
Ganginho competed for TNL from May to October last year. Before that, the esports athlete represented Sangal, Betera and other squads. Over the course of his career as a Counter-Strike pro, which kicked off in 2019, Chernychenko has earned $21,000 in prizes. Ganginho's ban will last until December 6, 2027 – until then, he will not be able to participate in tournaments in any capacity.
