Skyesports to hold only one Tier 1 CS2 tournament in 2025 – originally planned three
Indian tournament operator Skyesports has updated its plans for the 2025 competitive season, reducing the number of planned Tier 1 Counter-Strike 2 events from three to one.
Thus, Skyesports Masters 2025 will take place from November 10 to 16 with the participation of 20 squads, 18 of which will be invited directly based on Valve's ranking. At the same time, the four best rosters from the ranking will go straight to the main stage of the competition, while the remaining 16 will compete in the closed online qualifiers.
The prize pool for the event was reduced from half a million US dollars to $350,000. Valve added the tournament to the "list of exceptions", allowing Skyesports to adjust the prize pool and format of the competition. The official statement from the company claims:
These changes, while scaled back from our original announcement, reflect our strategic re-alignment to long-term sustainability at Skyesports, while ensuring we continue hosting large-scale, global events.
Moreover, it was announced that the Skyesports Souvenir 2025 LAN tournament, which the company cancelled a few weeks ago, will still play out, but only teams from India will be able to participate. Finally, the statement from Skyesports indicated that the operator plans to hold another Tier 2 event at the end of the year.
