Teams with multi-regional rosters can no longer choose which region to compete in
Counter-Strike 2 developers have updated the Major rulebook, specifically the section on determining a team's region and the order of invites for teams that can represent multiple regions.
Previously, if a squad did not have three players from one region and had an equal number of players from two other regions, it could choose which region it would represent. However, the rules now state that a team's region "is determined by the region of the VRS from which they have been invited".
This only applies to rosters that compete in multiple regions – for example, Liquid, which now includes two players from both the Americas and Asia, and Wildcard, which has two players from the Americas and two from Europe.
In the event that a team would be invited to a particular stage based on more than one regional VRS, they are considered to have been invited based on the region with greater representation in the Major (i.e., Europe, then America, then Asia).
This means that a squad's region will depend on which regional ranking guarantees them a better invite to the Major. If both lead to an invite to the same stage, the roster will be assigned to the region with the higher representation.
