ENCE puts its female CS2 roster on pause

Finnish esports club ENCE has put its female Counter-Strike 2 roster, which competed under the ENCE Athena tag, on pause. All members of the team have entered free agency. The announcement was published on the organization's official website.

ENCE General Manager Niklas "Willkey" Ojalainen commented on this decision:

For the time being, ENCE will put the Athena brand on hold until further notice. We want to examine the women's esports field further and determine what we want to do next with Athena. Definitely, we want to return at some point in time, but whether that is within CS2 or another title remains to be seen.

ENCE Athena was founded in September 2023. Over the course of its existence, the squad has earned $3,300 in prizes. The roster participated in three seasons of ESL Impact in Counter-Strike 2. At the time of disbandment, the team occupied 248th place in HLTV ranking.

Note that a few days ago, the esports organization Team Spirit announced the suspension of its female Counter-Strike 2 roster. The day before, the American club TSM also announced the complete disbandment of its female CS2 squad.

Former  ENCE Athena roster looks as follows:

 Milona "miLo" Tiainen
 Lotta "Waldee" Liesmala
 Lea "xia" Vagová
 Emma "Emmsan" Mattsson
 Aida "Aida" Simão

 Sebestyén "sebi" András (coach)
