Cloud9 to face Liquid in Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 opener

Tournament operator Perfect World has officially announced the pairs of opponents who will face off in the first round of matches in the first stage of Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024.

The teams were divided into pairs based on the official Valve ranking, which also determined the eight rosters that received invites to the Elimination Stage. Thus, Virtus.pro will face MIBR in the first round, Cloud9 will compete against Liquid, FURIA will fight GamerLegion.

The Opening Stage will be held in a Swiss system with BO1 matches; matches for advancing to the Major or for survival at the event will play out in a BO3 format.

Note that Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 will take place from November 30 to December 15 in Shanghai, China. The competition will feature a total prize pool of $1.25 million – it will be divided among 24 squads. The tournament will kick off with the following matches:
