HEROIC, Falcons, FlyQuest and five more teams drop to lower bracket of Play-In at IEM Cologne 2024

The openers of the first stage at IEM Cologne 2024, one of the most prestigious Counter-Strike 2 tournaments of the year, have ended in Cologne, Germany. As a result, eight teams are now one step away from advancing to the group stage of the event.

In the first round of Play-In, Complexity defeated ALTERNATE aTTaX (13:7 on Inferno, 13:10 on Anubis), Eternal Fire bested Falcons (13:5 on Vertigo, 8:13 on Nuke, 13:11 on Dust2), MIBR prevailed over HEROIC (10:13 on Ancient, 13:7 on Mirage, 13:7 on Anubis), while 9z got the better of 3DMAX (13:3 on Anubis, 13:4 on Nuke).

Moreover, FURIA won against Imperial (3:13 on Dust2, 13:11 on Nuke, 13:0 on Inferno), Liquid defeated paiN (16:13 on Anubis, 13:11 on Inferno), BIG prevailed over FlyQuest (14:16 on Ancient, 13:10 on Inferno, 13:11 on Vertigo), while SAW bested The MongolZ (16:13 on Anubis, 5:13 on Ancient, 13:5 on Dust2).

The winners advanced to the next round of the upper bracket, where they will face off for a spot in the group stage of the competition. The losers fell into the lower bracket, where they will fight in the elimination round.
