Report: NRG tried to buy out Evil Geniuses' BLAST Premier slot

North American club NRG was among the contenders for a BLAST Premier slot. As Dust2.us journalists found out, the organization planned to acquire the partner spot of Evil Geniuses.

Ultimately, EG's slot was acquired by Cloud9, which, according to rumors, paid about $900K for it. As a result, the organization gained access to two seasons, becoming a full-fledged partner of the tournament series.

Despite the unsuccessful attempt, NRG is among the contenders for one of the four additional slots that BLAST intends to distribute on a bidding basis. If a club is able to purchase a spot in the series, it will receive a special status and will not be able to claim guaranteed income.

Note that NRG returned to the pro scene at the end of November. The organization unveiled a lineup that included Damian "daps" Steele, Josh "oSee" Ohm, Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte, Jadan "HexT" Postma and Justin "FaNg" Coakley.

The next BLAST Premier tournament of the 2024 season will be BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2024. The event will take place from January 22 to 28.
