Valve confirms CIS and Europe merger for Major-qualifying cycle

Valve has unveiled an updated list of rules for the Major events. Among other things, it confirms the previously published insider information by HLTV.org about the merger of six regions into three larger ones: Europe, America and Asia.

The rules also note that in case RMR tournaments are moved online, North America and South America will again be separated so that participants can play with favorable ping. There will, however, be no separation between Europe and the CIS.

In addition, Valve also published a system of distributing slots between the regions at the Major. The European qualifier for the spring Major, where from on now the CIS teams will compete, singles out two invitation categories.

The slots distribution for the upcoming spring Major:

  • Europe 1: 4 spots in the Legends Stage, 4 spots in the Challengers Stage
  • Europe 2: 3 spots in the Legends Stage, 5 spots in the Challengers Stage
  • America: 1 spot in Legends Stage, 5 spots in Challengers Stage
  • Asia: 2 spots in the Challengers Stage

Earlier, PGL announced the first Major of 2022, which will be held in Antwerp, Belgium from May 9 to 22.
