roman will not return to CS2 pro scene
Former member of SAW's CS2 roster Ricardo "roman" Oliveira has officially announced his retirement as a pro Counter-Strike player. The esports athlete himself explained his decision as follows:
The farewell was said seven months ago, on stage at PGL in Cluj. I had already said in an interview with HLTV a few years ago—I don't remember what question Mira asked—but what I said was that I was certain SAW was the last team I would play for.
From the moment I was benched, I knew I would never return, and for me, it's the end of my career. I'll stop playing competitively because I don't have the energy or desire to start from scratch on another team. I knew there were no opportunities on other teams.
Oliveira's previous team was SAW – the 33-year-old Portuguese esports athlete represented it for over five years (from January 2020 to February 2025). At the beginning of this year, the organization moved roman to the bench, while in July Ricardo departed the club, becoming a streamer. During his entire esports career, which kicked off in 2010, roman has earned $148,000 in prizes.
