Gabe Follower: new anti-cheat in CS2 may appear next week
Counter-Strike 2 developers are preparing for a full release of the VacNet anti-cheat version 3.0. Data-miner Maxim "Gabe Follower" Poletaev reported this via his YouTube channel.
According to Poletaev, Valve has been testing VacNet since August 2024: the developers periodically turned on different anti-cheat modules for random periods of time to test their operation and at the same time not to provide information about the algorithms of their functioning to the developers of cheats.
According to Gabe Follower, the updated anti-cheat can detect a cheater in a couple of rounds – after which a special bot joins the match, closely monitoring the user suspected of cheating. If the fact of using cheats is confirmed, the dishonest player receives a ban for a day and a decrease in reputation, as a result of which he will be able to play in matches only with other cheaters for two weeks.
It is not yet known when exactly VacNet 3.0 will be released in Counter-Strike 2 – Valve themselves have not given any comments on this matter. Poletaev suggested that the anti-cheat could be added to the game as early as next week, along with the launch of Premier Season Two.
