OverDrive: "G2's main issue is in NiKo and huNter-"

Esports blogger Aleksey "OverDrive" Birukov assessed in a video on his YouTube channel the performance of the participants at BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2023. In particular, he talked about G2's disastrous result, which he blamed on the Bosnian duo in Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač.

I'm not afraid to say that if G2 fail at IEM Cologne 2023, then the replacements should take place. I probably have an unpopular opinion: the main problem is in NiKo and huNter-. They take a lot on themselves... Of course, they are great players, and I won't argue with that. NiKo is a legend, one of the best players in the world, but I associate him with the Bad News Eagles, the playstyle of which I don't really like. At BNE, everything is based on shooting, some kind of solo plays, when everyone takes over the game. NiKo is a superboss in BNE playstyle. But sometimes it is too much for winning at the tier 1 scene. G2 win when m0NESY is fine, when NiKo is dialed in, when HooXi lands shots. But when someone has a bad game, then it is not enough, because the structure does not have a foundation. Their structure depends on the individual performance of the star players.

OverDrive added that separate replacements won't fix G2's wobbly play. In his opinion, the Samurai need to rebuild the structure, in which AWPer Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov can open up, relying on more expected actions from teammates.

G2 secured the 7th-9th place at BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2023, losing to Liquid, FaZe and NAVI. Due to this, the team is forced to qualify for the final of the BLAST fall season through the Showdown tournament.
