Court ordered Imperial to pay compensation to family of deceased esports athlete
Court of Justice of São Paulo Court ordered Brazilian club Imperial to pay $80,000 compensation to the family of the deceased esports athlete Matheus "brutt" Queiroz. After a long litigation, the court upheld the verdict against the organization, which journalists of the Globo Esporte managed to discovered.
The story began at the end of 2019, when brutt, who at the time was competing for Imperial, was forced to leave the team's bootcamp due to severe headaches. A little later, the 19-year-old player passed away as a result of damage, to the central nervous system.
Subsequently, litigation began between the Queiroz family and the club, since Imperial was not going to satisfy the claim of the prosecution. In turn, the relatives of the deceased esports athlete reproached the organization for negligent attitude towards the player's health and failure to provide assistance.
Then, Imperial tried to appeal the original court decision, but now the organization has been finally found guilty. As it became known from the case file, the club did not conduct a medical examination of the players before the bootcamp, despite Queiroz's complaints.
As a result, Imperial was ordered to pay compensation of $80,000 to the player's family. In turn, Queiroz's relatives thanked the Court of Justice for the decision.
