NIP, NAVI, Heroic and BIG off to winning start at IEM Rio 2023

Group A upper bracket quarter-finals at IEM Rio 2023 have ended, with NIP, NAVI, Heroic and BIG securing their first victories at the tournament against Imperial, TheMongolz, 9INE and MOUZ, respectively.

Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen's squad defeated Imperial (16:5 on Mirage), while the Black-and-Yellow bested the Mongols from TheMongolz (16:9 on Mirage). Then the Danish roster got the best of 9INE (16:12 on Ancient), and the BIG took over Mice (16:6 on Overpass).

Group A playday will continue today, 17 April. At 22:00 MSK NIP and NAVI will face off for a ticket to the upper bracket final, while Imperial and TheMongolz will fight for survival. At 01:30 MSK two matches will play out: Heroic will face BIG in the upper bracket semi-finals, while 9INE and MOUZ will play in a knockout match.
