chopper: "There is no democracy in Team Spirit. It usually ends up poorly"

Team Spirit’s captain Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov explained to that in his team, as in number of other top rosters, democracy is not an option in making certain decisions.

There is no democracy in Team Spirit. It usually ends up poorly. To me, no top team has democracy. Look at NAVI, there is B1ad3. VP have Jame. Cloud9 rely on groove. If there is a main person , then he does everything. It doesn't matter if it's a coach or a captain. Every roster has their own leader.

Vishnyakov also shared his thoughts on how Team Spirit are affected by the lack of the consistant competitive practice.

In fact, there are some positives about this too. While there is no BLAST, you can prepare, study more material. The negative is that to cement a position in the rankings, you have to be in the top 8 at all the events. Otherwise your rank is unstable. Cloud9 have the same situation. The guys won IEM Dallas 2022 last year, made it to the playoffs of the Major... Overall, their game at the tournaments they played at was great. However, their rank fluctuated back and forth. Because at some point BLAST will be held, where one team secure a win in 3 matches – and now they are already higher than Cloud9 on the ranking. Although in a faceoff, they would not be stronger.

In the conclusion of the interview, chopper compared his leadership style to such IGLs as Denis "electroNic" Sharipov, Dzhami "Jame" Ali and Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov.

Probably, my style is more scripted compared to others. The aforementioned IGLs rely heavily on the individual skill of some players. Moreover, I tend to play more passively. electroNic and nafany create more space. Especially electroNic now, because he used to be a lurker. I can do that too, but I prefer to support my team more.

Team Spirit's next matches will take place as part of Group D at ESL Pro League Season 17. From March 15-19, the team will be fighting for one of four tickets to the playoffs against Liquid, Rare Atom, ATK, ENCE, Astralis, NAVI and forZe.
