Evil Geniuses to play at tier-2 tournament for first time in two years
After being eliminated from IEM Katowice 2023, Evil Geniuses accepted an invitation to the CCT North Europe Series 3 playoffs. It is worth noting that this tournament will be the first tier-2 championship for EG in the past two years.
The last time Evil Geniuses played at a tier-2 event was at the beginning of 2021, when they finished fourth at Snow Sweet Snow 3. Subsequently, the North American team only took part in BLAST and ESL's tournaments, where they have partner slots, qualifiers for some big championships, as well as in Valve-sponsored competitions.
In the playoffs of CCT North Europe Series 3, Evil Geniuses are set to face Illuminar. The encounter will take place tomorrow, February 4, and is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 MSK.
CCT North Europe Series 3, which is being held online from January 25 to February 7, features a prize pool of $50,000. Besides Evil Geniuses, invites to the playoffs were earlier handed out to Astralis, GamerLegion, 9z, Copenhagen Flames, 500 and Endpoint, as well as to another yet-to-be-revealed team.
