Fan removed from arena hosting IEM Rio Major 2022 after insulting players

During the OG – Vitality match in the Challengers Stage at IEM Rio Major 2022, the tournament organizers ejected one of the fans who cursed and insulted the players, Dust2.com.br reports.

The journalists requested a comment from ESL. The tournament operator replied that the fan was removed from the arena due to the constant verbal and physical threats that the players had received since the beginning of the tournament.

As it turned out, the offender was a 16-year-old student. Talking with the media, he said that on the final day of the current stage of the Major, he came to support Vitality and shouted several insults at OG players. According to him, he had previously done this many times with other teams, but the players either did not react or laughed it off in response.

The fan suggested that he was removed from the competition venue for a specific gesture with his thumb "cutting" the neck. "The players took it as a threat and didn't get the joke," he said.

The Brazilian journalists' report emphasizes that the security service of the tournament escorted the offender out of the arena and forbade him to go back at least until the end of today's matchday. There is now no information about whether he will be able to attend the matches of the Major's next stages.
