Cloud9 through to ESL Pro League Season 16 playoffs; Movistar Riders out

In the third round of Group D at ESL Pro League Season 16, Cloud9 defeated Movistar Riders 2:0 – 16:7 on Inferno and 16:4 on Vertigo. Following the matchday, which saw two other matches playing out, this result secured Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov's squad a spot in the playoffs, while the Spaniards lost their chances of making it to the next stage of the tournament.

The third round also saw Evil Geniuses earning the first points after a victory over Eternal Fire (16:9 on Overpass and 16:4 on Dust2) and FURIA taking over Liquid (16:10 on Mirage, 7:16 on Inferno and 16:4 on Vertigo).

The fight for the two remaining tickets to the playoffs from Group D will continue tomorrow, September 24. The pairings are as follows: Evil Geniuses – Movistar Riders (13:30 MSK), Liquid – Eternal Fire (17:00 MSK) and Cloud9 – FURIA (20:30 MSK).
